I’m all for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Bachelor in Paradise is probably my least favorite out of the franchise. ABC basically throws a bunch of Bachelor & Bachelorette alums into a resort in Mexico and makes a glorified orgy out of it. Cue the tears, cheating, and fighting as they all fight to form their own relationships and break up those of others.
So what happened this week? Let’s focus on Joe & Juelia. I mean let’s be real we only care about whoever is causing the drama. Carly & Kirk…Jade & Tanner…they’re in love so that’s boring. Juelia is a widowed mother from Chris Soules’ season that formed a relationship with Joe from Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season in week 2. Well, a relationship in her eyes. Unfortunately for her, Joe has been feeding her bullshit in order to get a rose and stay on the show. According to him, Juelia is not the right girl for him (despite him telling her so) because he is waiting for Sam (another girl from Chris’ season) to arrive. Although everyone had been trying to warn Juelia that Joe has been playing her, she refused to listen.
Her naivety is absolutely heartbreaking to watch. You want to slap her across the face for being stupid but you also want to give her a hug because out of everyone she probably deserves this the least. Joe’s interviews with the producers show a side of him we didn’t see in his season on The Bachelorette. He is a cold, calculating villain. He makes it pretty clear that he doesn’t care about Juelia’s feelings from the start.
As soon as Samantha arrives in Paradise, they immediately went on a date and were pretty hot and heavy. Her selection of Joe for a date without a second thought raises questions to the others. Two seconds into Sam being in paradise and they were already holding hands. Juelia was blindsided for sure. It was definitely clear to everyone there that the two had talked before the show and that this had been their plan all along. I can’t help but feel like that’s an unfair advantage. Is this even allowed?! Juelia never had a shot to begin with…
Joe’s behavior is despicable. Not that you should ever play anyone, but playing a widow trying to find a husband and father for her child makes it a million times worse. She ended up letting two guys go home who actually cared about her. If she had given one of them a rose to stick around, she might have been able to develop a connection there. To be honest, I’m not quite sure Joe has a soul. No one with a conscience could do that on television and not see how there is an issue with it. He feels no remorse for his actions. He might actually be one step away from being a sociopath. Note to Kaitlyn: GOOD JOB LETTING HIM GO GIRL! He is a PSYCHO.
After some convincing from other people, Joe finally agrees to talk to Juelia about the situation after his date with Samantha. What goes on here only proved his lack of emotion and pure immaturity. He was unable to even make eye contact with her while she spoke to him about feeling disrespected. Any man who can’t even make eye contact during a serious conversation is not worth your time. All he was capable of was claiming he did nothing wrong over and over.
Later on, Dan defended Juelia and encouraged Joe to have yet another conversation with her. He finally admitted to speaking to Samantha prior to the filming. Julia threatened to tell Sam everything about their relationship prior to her arrival and you could see how fast he did a 180. He immediately apologized for his behavior but that’s not enough. Joe is as dumb as a door nail for thinking that he wouldn’t get caught.
Despite Juelia’s warnings, Sam still seemed to be interested. Despite her close friendship with Juelia she decided to continue pursuing the relationship. Major red flag over here! Sam broke girl code in the worst kind of way. It is confirmed that not only had her and Joe been talking prior to filming but that she had been in on all of this the whole time. She had texted him saying, “Do whatever it takes to stay there until I get there.” The cameramen catch the two of them discussing her interview with the producers where she lies about their relationship prior to the show, only to have it backfire when she thinks the cameras aren’t watching. She went from the season mute last year to the season mean girl this year in a minute flat. What a swap! I hope she’s watching this show and realizing in hindsight what a bad decision this was and how it hurt her friendship so badly. I mean, come on Sam his dad bod should have been a hint enough that you were better than him…
Everyone in this love triangle needs to needs to get their shit together.
- Joe, get over yourself. Your brain is the size of a peanut and karma will come back to bite you. Watching you on TV makes America uncomfortable.
- Sam, get your head out of your ass.
- Juelia, you deserve better. Wise up and find someone worth your time.
Can’t wait to see what happens next….
