Normally I spring for pricier mascara rather than the products you can find at any drugstore. My eyelashes are often the key to my finished look and I like mascaras that provide a lot of volume and length. Mascara is not about the quality of the product inside the bottle but rather the quality of the brush itself. In the past, I have found that the brushes of lower cost mascaras do not provide my lashes with the length that I am seeking.
However, I have been getting spammed with ads for Maybelline’s new Falsie’s PushUp Drama mascara. Let’s just say their marketing team is doing their job the right way. Not only that, but if you make Gigi Hadid the face of any product and I’m 10 times more likely to buy it. Because who doesn’t like Gigi Hadid, right? Job well done, Maybelline.
I just happened to catch CVS on a good day where they were having a sale on all Maybelline mascaras for 2 for $12 (regularly priced $7.49). Who can resist that? I anxiously grabbed two and rushed to the register to pay for my newest makeup discovery. I figured worst comes to worst, at least it didn’t burn a hole in my pocket. Best cast scenario, I turn out looking like Gigi (hey, a girl can dream).
The verdict? At first glance, I was not convinced by the brush. Once I gave it a try I was proven wrong. Definitely a good product and the best cheap mascara that I’ve ever used. Maybelline definitely has hit the nail on the head with this product. The push up brush lengthened my lashes to the same extent that my $25 Mac mascara did. There’s no denying that I got my money’s worth since I got 2 for half of the price of my single mascara. I’ve always touted the greatness of Mac False Lashes mascara is and this is definitely a comparable alternative for someone on a budget. In fact, this product actually clumped less than the Mac one. The one downside to this product is that the push up brush did not provide the level of volume that I am used to. While my lashes were definitely longer, they did not look fuller or thicker. Still, this product is great especially if you are a poor 20 something like me looking to cut costs on your (extensive) beauty routine. I highly recommend giving it a shot. Maybe you will come out looking like Gigi too ;).
